“Sun Dance” is an imaginative piece which draws an image of the sun dancing on top of the Silk Road. The sunlight is particularly strong in the area of the Silk Road. Yet, when the sun goes down, the temperature plummets. This piece depicts the coming and going of the sun in a personified manner.
The opening starts dramatically with Chinese bass drum which represents the awakening sun. With the dialogue between the solo violin, cello and almgeckon, the sun dances in a gentle and sweet way. After that, the sun’s motions become faster and faster and full of excitement. After that, the sun becomes tired and falls asleep as before. It represents the daily cycle of the rise and fall of the sun.
