Although Hong Kong is quite a tiny place, it could be definitely regarded as a multicultural metropolitan city. ‘Vibrant Beats’ is a fresh, energetic piece that incorporates both the Eastern and Western elements in terms of melody, harmony and craftsmanship, just like Hong Kong. It reflects and celebrates the energy and beauty of the city.
All instruments are important here in that they take turns to solo and show off their ‘voices’ with different timbres. As if people in Hong Kong might come from different backgrounds, but they all share the same Hong Kong spirit: full of passion and vibrancy, never give up, devote themselves to the city and love each other. The use of some interesting, harmless extended techniques enriches the whole piece and represents the extremely rich Hong Kong life and innovation all the time.
